About Merseyrail
merseyrailMerseyrail is a commuter rail network in the UK jointly owned by Serco Group Plc and Abellio. It has a fleet of 60 trains, connecting about 66 stations. Each day the company operates nearly 800 trains, carrying an average 110,000 passengers. The Merseyrail network operates on the Wirral and Northern Lines within Merseyside. It passes through the Mersey railway tunnel that was opened in the year 1886.

The Northern Line connects the stations Southport, Birkdale, Hillside, Ainsdale, Freshfield, Hightown, Hall road, Waterloo, Seaforth, Bank Hall, Aughton Park, Town Green, Maghull, Orrell Park, Walton, Fazakerley, Rice Lane, Kirkdale, Sandhills, Liverpool Central, Brunswick, St Michaels, Aigburth, Cressington and Hunts Cross. The Wirral Line connects West Kirby, Hoylake, Manor Road, Meols, Moreton, Leasowe, Bidston, New Brighton, Wallasey Village, Conway Park, James Street, Moorfields, Lime Street and Liverpool Central.

Use the regular bus service to easily access any of the Merseyrail stations. If using your own transportation, most stations offer convenient parking that is free of charge. Passengers also enjoy free WiFi available at underground stations. Those that are mobility impaired and with other disabilities must request for assistance 24 hours in advance.

Tickets for the desired journey can be booked at any nearest Merseyrail station. There are also ticket vending machines located at a number of stations. Different types of fares found with Merseyrail include Standard Tickets, Family Tickets, Day Saver, Saveaway and Season tickets. Under standard tickets you have Anytime Single / Return and Cheap Day Returns. With the former, you can travel any time of the day. The Cheap Day Return ticket is for travelling outside peak hours. The Day Saver fares are valid for travel after 9.30am. The Saveaway ticket covers bus, train and ferry.

If you are a frequent traveller, use the Railpass to enjoy savings with weekly, monthly or annual pass. It is valid for travel all day within your chosen area.
