About Melbourne Zoo
Melbourne Zoo is a popular animal reserve in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, frequently visited by local and foreign visitors. Also known as the Royal Melbourne Zoological Garden, the zoo was opened way back in 1862. It is spread across 55 acres and has more than 2,000 animals and 300 species. Free guided tours are available at the zoo.
The zoo is open on all days, from 9am to 5pm. Adult tickets cost $32. Fares for children cost half of adult fare. On weekends and holidays, children can enter for free. There is also annual membership for unlimited entry to three zoos. Note that tickets can be purchased online using Visa or Mastercard.
Animals you can spot at the zoo include African Wild Dog, Asian Elephant, Australian Pelican, Australian Fur Seal, Baw Baw Frog, Cotton-top Tamarin, Gorilla, Hamdryas Baboon, Little Penguin, Meerkat, Platypus, Red Panda, Philippines Crocodile, Regent Honeyeater, Wombat, Lemur, Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Orangutan and Zebra.
