Eicher Motors is one of India’s leading commercial automobile manufacturer and marketer. The company’s history can be traced back to 1948 when it was called Goodearth Company and it distributed and serviced tractors. The company got its present name in 1980 with the expansion of its business to light commercial vehicles. In 1990, Eicher Goodearth bought a 26% equity stake in Enfield India Limited and it later increased this stake to 60%. Eicher and Volvo Group entered into a 50:50 joint venture in 2008, thus establishing VE Commercial Vehicles Limited. The company is led by a Board of Directors with Mr Siddartha Lal being the Managing Director and CEO.
Eicher Motors manufactures and markets reliable, fuel-efficient commercial vehicles incorporating high quality and innovative technology, through VECV Limited. Eicher Trucks are available in a number of models and sizes. The Haulage trucks range includes E2 Plus series of 5T to 14T Light & Medium Duty Trucks and VE Series of Fuel Efficient Heavy Duty Trucks. These trucks are designed for superior performance with maximum fuel efficiency and affordable cost. The Tipper type vehicles belong to the Eicher Terra series of 16T & 25T vehicles. These models have better uptime and pulling power, stronger aggregates and can run for more number of trips. Another product of the company is the Eicher 40 40 Articulated Tractor which boasts of a soft suspended cabin for increased driving comfort and excellent fuel efficiency that helps in generating more revenue by increasing number of trips.
Eicher also has a range of buses that are divided into categories like Skyline and Starline with seating capacity from 16 to 65. The recently launched Skyline Tourist buses have superior asthetics, fuel efficiency and provide maximum comfort. The School bus range is tagged India’s First Safe School Bus which is designed to provide excellent safety and comfort for passengers. The other models in the bus category of Eicher products include Staff buses, City Semi Low Floor buses, Route Permit buses and Bus Chassis.
The company also has a range of speciality vehicles which have been designed keeping in mind the purpose the vehicle has to be used for. This category includes vehicles like Ambulance, Mid Steel Container, Troop Carrier and Water Tanker. Other than automotive products, Eicher has a special non-automotive products range which includes fuel efficient engines for various applications like genset, agro and marine.
